Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity to join our Occupational Therapy Team. We are looking for a Occupational Therapy Technician to work with our frailty/gen med inpatients team at Worthing Hospital, providing therapeutic care to our patients. We can offer flexible hours. This is a fixed term role of 5 months. You will work as part of an established OT team working under the direct supervision of the Occupational Therapists.
You will be required to carry thorough treatment programmes, accompany / assist on home assessments and participate in general administration and housekeeping tasks. You will have the opportunity to gain experience working in the many interesting aspects of Occupational Therapy.
The successful candidates must be able to demonstrate good communication and problem-solving skills and enjoy working both independently and as part of a team.
Additional specific training is given to enable you to undertake the job.

Main duties of the job
To apply, under the supervision of a registered occupational therapist, technical and creative skills in the provision of a flexible, patient centred programme of Occupational Therapy assessments and treatments.
To work effectively as a member of the multi-disciplinary team in providing a programme of Occupational Therapy assessments and treatments for a selected caseload of patients, being able to make alterations when required by assessment of patient progress.

Job description
Job responsibilities
1. To manage a selected caseload of patients, under regular but not constant supervision of a registered Occupational Therapist, to carry out the assessment and treatment of individual patients and groups, on the wards, in the Occupational Therapy department and to assist on home visits.
2. To carry out alone, under guidance of an Occupational Therapist, follow up visits to patients in their homes.
3. To arrange, under guidance from an Occupational Therapist, for the provision of standard specialist disability equipment and to teach and demonstrate the use of equipment or other techniques to optimise the patients functional ability, independence and safety.
4. To demonstrate understanding and implications of manual handling legislation and current best practice, applying this knowledge under guidance from an Occupational Therapist to the practice of therapeutic manual handling.

5. Good level of education - 4 GCSE's at Grade C or above or equivalent
