Under the general direction of the Assistant Director of Business Development & Marketing, the incumbent develops, plans, and manages Melbourne Orlando International Airport’s (MLB) marketing, advertising, public relations, media relations, and communications program. Serves as the liaison between the Melbourne Airport Authority and other governmental agencies and community organizations. This position requires considerable independence and initiative; work is evaluated through attained results.
Responsibilities:
* Develops and implements marketing and communications strategies aligned with the airport’s goals and objectives, ensuring consistent messaging and branding across all materials and all departments. This includes video and photographic content.
* Oversees the creation of compelling content for various communication channels, including social media platforms, the airport’s digital sign, blogs, website, newsletters, and brochures.
* Manages the airport’s social media accounts, creating and posting engaging and informative content, fostering meaningful engagement with the audience, and responding to comments, inquiries, and messages received through social media platforms. May also engage with social media influencers.
* Responsible for the oversight and maintenance of the airport’s website.
* Manages the Airport Ambassador program including the hiring, training, onboarding, scheduling, and payroll of all ambassadors.
* Oversees the development and implementation of the airport’s customer service experience training program. Works closely with staff, vendors, airlines, rental cars, concessionaires, Transportation Security Administration (TSA), and others to coordinate efforts and maintain superior customer service for all airport customers.
* Oversees the airport’s terminal advertising program with outside vendors.
* Develops and maintains positive relationships with all stakeholders, including airlines, government agencies, community organizations, and residents. Will work closely with the local chambers of commerce.
* Maintains a calendar of important projects and organizational and tenant milestones to proactively coordinate and anticipate communications and public relation needs.
* Coordinates and collaborates with other staff members on the preparation of press releases, brochures, memoranda, letters, reports, electronic newsletters, and other internal and external communications.
* Collaborates with internal teams and external agencies to create visually appealing and impactful marketing collateral, including print materials, digital assets, signage, and advertisements to include the airport’s annual report.
* Ensures the accuracy of information on the airport’s website and social media accounts.
* Collects and analyzes airport statistical information and distributes it to industry representatives and the general public.
* Assists in the development and management of the marketing budget, allocating resources effectively and identifying opportunities for partnerships and sponsorships.
* Coordinates, plans, and organizes events, VIP visits, presentations, meetings, etc., including the monthly Melbourne Airport Authority Board presentation.
* If the airport has an outside marketing consultant, responsible for all aspects of that relationship.
* Curates and grows the “Arts at MLB” program.
* Researches, strategizes, and proposes new, innovative, and industry-leading customer experience programs for MLB.
* Assists with Business Development projects.
Minimum Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or related field.
* Minimum of four (4) years of experience in a highly responsible marketing or communications capacity, preferably in aviation, travel/tourism, hospitality, or economic development.
* Or a combination of education, training, and/or work experience equal to or greater than the requirements listed above as determined by Airport Human Resources.
* Thorough knowledge of social media outlets and how to effectively use them to communicate airport messaging.
Preferences:
* Aviation (Airline/Airport) experience preferred.
Licenses, Certifications, or Registrations:
* Must possess a valid State of Florida Driver’s license.

* Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), social media management tools (such as Buffer, Hootsuite, or Sprout Social), web analytics platforms (such as Google, Adobe, or Webtrends), content creation software (such as Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva, or Sketch), and experience with WordPress/Elementor is preferred.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to hold or feel, reach with hands and arms, walk, talk, and hear. The employee occasionally requires standing, sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, and crouching. Specific vision abilities include near distance, far distance, color, peripheral vision, and depth perception. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Some jobs require an employee to be exposed to outside weather conditions, wet, or humid conditions.
