The Estates Department is responsible for the repair, maintenance, and management of all Building Services within the Trust.
An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, self-motivated Maintenance Worker (Engineering) with a background preferably gained in a building services environment.
The successful candidate will assist the estates team in providing a comprehensive engineering maintenance service to include all aspects of planned and routine maintenance, installation, and repair/replacement work on a wide range of engineering systems. The successful candidate will ideally have previous experience in and understanding of electrical systems in a building services environment.
The successful candidate will be expected to work under the Trust values and behaviours and will need to be flexible and have the ability to work independently as well as part of a wider team with good organisational skills to be able to prioritise competing demands.
Although primarily based at Leeds General Infirmary, you may be required to work from other Trust sites for periods of time as the service dictates.

Main Duties of the Job
1. Assist with the provision of an efficient and cost-effective maintenance and repair service to all properties owned by the Trust.
2. Undertake tasks outside of core skills (within the competence of the post holder) to meet service needs as required.
3. Assist other trades and contractors in accordance with service needs.
4. Ensure that work is undertaken at all times in accordance with health and safety requirements to ensure the environment remains safe for patients, staff, contractors, and visitors to the Trust.

Job Responsibilities
1. Undertake unsupervised routine and non-routine maintenance and minor repair work.
2. Carry out a range of more complex tasks such as Hydrotherapy Pool Maintenance and Testing, Portable Appliance Testing, Thermostatic Mixer Valve Testing/Adjusting, Legionella Temperature Checks, and Testing/Repair of Nurse Call Handsets, subject to appropriate training or experience.
3. Learn minor work of other trades as needed.
4. Normal duties will consist of day-to-day engineering/electrical routine maintenance tasks.
5. Plan ongoing maintenance work to ensure completion in a timely manner, including problem-solving of technical issues.
6. Assist higher grades on new work and repairs.
7. Utilise the Works Management System for recording, updating, and auditing estates records and assisting in the compilation of Plant histories.
8. Assist in carrying out surveys for future maintenance, alterations, or improvements.
9. The post may require you to carry out a range of driving duties on road vehicles, hydraulic lift platforms, subject to appropriate training.
10. Support the induction of new starters/apprentices and pass information to colleagues, other staff, and patients in areas of their own expertise.
11. Use relevant tools and equipment, including the manipulation of fine tools.
12. Demonstrate a basic knowledge of good safety practices.
13. Deputise for storekeeper in Building & Engineering stores.
14. Carry Trust communication devices to facilitate immediate response to urgent requests and emergency breakdowns.
15. Participate in some out-of-hours work and be prepared to work such hours that may be required in an emergency.
16. Any other duties as may be reasonably required by line management commensurate with the grades of the post.
17. Respond to switchboard and building management system alarms (e.g., fire alarms, MRI alarms, lift trappings), including supervising the release of trapped passengers.

Qualifications
* Formal Qualifications (CSE/GCSE).
* Knowledge of Health & Safety, Moving & Handling, COSHH.
* City & Guilds Certificate [or equivalent] in an appropriate trade.
Experience
* Ability to work independently and without supervision.
* Maintain high standards of personal hygiene and appearance at all times whilst on duty.
* Working in an Acute Hospital Environment.
* General Electrical Systems.
