Summary of Main Responsibilities of our Buyer:
To ensure availability of all production items, provide support to the R&D function and to become a key member of the supply team, supporting the tactical and operational objectives by:
10. Developing and maintaining a thorough working knowledge of Meech products
11. Taking responsibility for sourcing, purchasing and the delivery of materials and components
12. Involvement in the weekly running of the MPS/MRP from Microsoft Dynamics Navision (NAV)
13. Placing of Purchase Orders – maintaining accurate inbound delivery dates on Microsoft Dynamics Navision (NAV) and liaising with Production, Customer Service and Goods-in warehouse
14. Control of free issue items to suppliers for subcontract
15. Ensuring consistent regulatory compliance, Quality, OTIF and cost performance
16. Ensuring the MRP/ERP system reflects current trading conditions such as lead-time, ordering quantities and price (minimum order quantities/minimum stock holding)
Skills, knowledge and experience required by our Buyer:
17. Proven experience as a buyer within a manufacturing environment; preferably with knowledge of subcontract and direct procurement of fabricated metal, bespoke manufactured parts, including metal and plastic machined components
18. Demonstratable experience of delivering cost savings
19. Excellent understanding of the end-to-end procurement process, Risk management, Environmental Social Governance, Supplier Relationship Management & Negotiation
20. Ability to understand and extract technical information from drawings and specifications
21. Numerate, analytical and commercially aware
22. A competent user of Microsoft Excel (pivot tables etc)
23. Strong MRP/ERP experience, ideally Microsoft Dynamics Navision (NAV)
24. Excellent organisational skills, high degree of accuracy, attention to detail and forward thinking.
25. A CIPS qualification would be preferable but not essential.
