We are looking for a highly experienced and dynamic Engineering & Maintenance Manager, starting in 2025, to join our business in this newly created role, as part of our Leadership Team.
Reporting to the Director of Operations you will be responsible for the overall efficiencies, from plant equipment, utilities, to scheduling and controlling all plant engineering / maintenance functions.
Working with a small and skilled maintenance team to ensure the smooth running of our pharmaceutical manufacturing facility.
Key outcomes of the role include:
* Ensuring all equipment, maintenance staff, and contractors carrying out works onsite are with OH&S requirements, standards, policies & procedures.
* Leading the Maintenance team to ensure effective operation of the site to maximise efficiency and cost.
* Effectively managing maintenance activities within allocated costs and support with annual budgets and forecasting.
* Working with key stakeholders to identify and implement operation improvement projects.
* Planning and executing technical projects from concept to completion.
* Ensuring all equipment and machinery are operating in a well-maintained and functional manner.
* Employing relevant metrics and analytical tools to pinpoint opportunities for process enhancement, aiming to minimise rework, enhance quality, optimise line efficiency, boost revenue, and facilitate achievement of business targets.
* Complete ownership of the cradle to grave management of infrastructural assets for the site, including developing an equipment risk register, long-term capacity / asset replacement strategy, and a site overhaul schedule.
* Implement best practice capital execution methodologies, ensuring cost effective management of capex, tracking of associated business benefits, and excellence in design, installation, commissioning and post implementation reviews of all capital projects onsite.
* Improving plant uptime and controlling downtime by developing routine preventive maintenance strategies and fostering a no downtime culture.
* Lead the development of preventative / predictive / prescriptive maintenance schedules and update system on upgrade of assets.
Produce regular reporting on KPI’s, spare parts and perform analysis of downtime reports to drive continuous improvement.
Oversee running of the maintenance parts store, ensuring part availability, sourcing cost effectiveness and updated listing.
Manage equipment knowledge including, equipment manuals, maintenance logs, electrical drawings, etc.
Lead and drive the implementation of Total Asset Management (Asset Care and Autonomous Maintenance) best practices onsite in reliability engineering, technical capability & management systems.
As the successful candidate, you will have:
* 10 years of related experience in the FMCG industry managing and coordinating; Capital projects, preventative maintenance, establishing and operating to a budget, EPA and OHS / PSM requirements.
* Minimum 5+ years’ experience supervising a maintenance workforce.
* BS in Mechanical Engineering.
* An engineering qualification in mechatronics or a related field with a background in automation controls, PLCs, robotics and Scada systems.
* Experience in a lean manufacturing environment.
* An eye for continuous improvement and motivation to create change to improve processes.
* Strong analytical and reporting skills with a solution focused mindset.
* Strong communication and external liaison skills.
* Excellent interpersonal, time management and organisational skills.
* Cross functional problem solving and decision making.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as possessing proficient computer skills.
