We are looking for
autonomous practitioners with and enthusiasm and motivation for providing the highest quality care to the children attending the Bristol Children’s Emergency Department.
The Children’s Emergency Department at the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children see up to 50000 children from the Bristol and the surrounding area. We are a major trauma centre for the Severn and Wessex Peninsulas with all specialities based within the Children’s Hospital. As an autonomous Nurse Practitioner in the Children’s Emergency Department you will be have to opportunity to utilise your clinical skills and expertise seeing a diverse variety of presentations from the whole spectrum of specialities with opportunities to be involved in audit, research and ongoing departmental developments.
Successful applicants will need as a minimum to have successfully completed a recognised course for autonomous practice in the emergency setting. They will work amongst a dynamic, enthusiastic and supportive multidisciplinary team, assessing and diagnosing children that attend the department with illness and injury. We are committed to ensuring ongoing professional development providing opportunities for this both internally and externally.
1. Demonstrate specialists skills, knowledge and expertise in clinical practice managing entire episodes of care for patients with previously undiagnosed and undiffiniated clinical conditions
2. Ensures that clinical practice is evidence based.
3. Aware of professional limits in clinical skills and knowledge, referring patients on to definitive care as appropriate
4. Ensuring appropriate use of ‘patient group directives’ in line with the Trust policy. To participate in developing and expanding the range of patient group directives.
5. To act as a role model
6. Act as support for staff, patients and relatives particularly in the event of a distressing/stressful situation
7. To identify and act upon situations which may be detrimental to health and well-being of patients
8. To undertake appropriate health promotions and provide accident prevention advice
