Sysco is currently recruiting for a Data Privacy Advisor to join the Global Data Privacy Team on a full-time, permanent basis, reporting into the Senior Director, Global Data Privacy Officer. The Global Data Privacy Team is part of the Sysco Legal Team who are based across the UK, France, Sweden, and the US.
This role requires being on site in Ashford 1-2 days per week.
The Data Privacy Advisor will work primarily across the UK and Europe businesses; however, the role will also support with all data privacy matters where it is required.
The Data Privacy Advisor will provide advice and guidance across the UK and Europe markets on Data Privacy Laws, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), ensuring that complex data privacy topics/requirements are communicated in a way that is appropriate to different audience types. You will support colleagues across the business to understand their data privacy obligations and Sysco’s Data Privacy Governance Framework, with daily management of the data privacy inbox, where requests for guidance and support are received.
This role will also manage and oversee the coordination of Individual Rights Requests for both customers and employees, such as Subject Access Requests and deletion requests, and will also play a key part in supporting the completion of Data Privacy Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and Vendor Risk Assessments for new projects/relationships across the businesses.
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities:
* Providing high quality administrative support to the Global Data Privacy Team.
* Managing the Data Privacy mailbox to ensure accurate and timely responses are provided to requests for guidance/support from key stakeholders and other enquiries.
* Support the adoption of One Trust (online privacy management tool), including ongoing maintenance of the tool.
* Supporting with the drafting and delivery of relevant privacy training, including e-learning training.
* Support in managing Subject Access Requests (SARs), specifically in compiling and redacting requested information and other Individual Rights Requests.
* Coordinate directed actions that are required when alleged data breaches are reported under the supervision of the Global Data Privacy Officer and/or the Data Privacy Lead - Europe.
* Support with managing Data Privacy Impact Assessments (DPIAs) under the supervision of the Global Data Privacy Officer and/or the Data Privacy Lead - Europe.
* Support with managing Vendor Risk Assessments under the supervision of the Global Data Privacy Officer and/or the Data Privacy Lead - Europe.
* Ensure that data protection regulatory records are kept accurate and up to date. This includes Records of Processing Activities and data flow maps.
* Ensure work is developed, delivered, and promoted in line with internal team policies and processes, and statutory requirements.
* Helping to maintain internal Global Data Privacy Team logs and controls.
* Supporting the co-ordination and delivery of research and content for various Data Governance, Privacy, Risk and Control related topics.
* Support in preparation of Committee slide decks.
* Support in preparing draft internal communications/key topic briefings to meet business requirements and championing a ‘privacy-aware’ culture.
About you:
To be successful in this role, you must have a good understanding of Data Privacy laws; including GDPR and PECR. CCPA and PIPEDA would be an advantage. You will have proven experience working in a Data Privacy/Data Protection role and be an analytical thinker with a detailed and logical approach to problem-solving. It would be highly advantageous to have a familiarity with a global structure and have a high level of attention to detail. You will have the ability to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally with colleagues at all levels. It’s essential to have a proactive approach to building relationships and show willingness to engage with the wider Legal and Compliance Team, and support where necessary.
