Teaching Personnel is hiring a dedicated ALN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive partner school in Newport. This full-time role is based in a specialist Learning Resource Base (LRB) class that supports pupils with severe Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and behavioural challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
Support a small class of pupils with ALN, focusing on emotional and academic development.
Provide 1:1 and group support for students with severe ASD and behavioural needs.
Build strong, trusting relationships with students, staff, and parents.
Create a nurturing, inclusive classroom environment that promotes safety and well-being.
Follow individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour support strategies.
Uphold school safeguarding and child protection policies.
What We’re Looking For:
Resilient, patient, and compassionate individuals with a genuine interest in SEN/ALN education.
Experience working with children with special educational needs is preferred but not essential.
Willingness to learn and adapt in a dynamic classroom environment.
Essential Requirements:
EWC Registration (Education Workforce Council)
Enhanced Child-Only DBS (on the Update Service)
Two professional references covering the last 24 months
Ability to manage challenging behaviour and remain calm under pressure
