Senior Project Accountant Ayrshire to £54,000 Excellent Benefits Pertemps is delighted to bring to market a new and exclusive opportunity in Ayrshire for a Qualified Accountant to join the team of a global organisation in a Senior Accounting role. This role comes at a very exciting time for the business and offers significant scope for growth. The post is based full time in the office. Role Purpose To be the key financial contact for, and support to, a large global project. The role requires the development of a full and in-depth understanding of project revenue stream, cost structure and key risks and opportunities. The role requires the financial performance of the programme to be clearly presented at all levels within the business to both financial and non-financial audiences, thus it is a high-profile position with significant exposure to senior audiences. Key responsibilities include: Ensuring the overall integrity of Financial Reporting for Project Performance: Monitoring labour and overhead performance against budget/forecast. Evaluate supply chain performance relative to budget/forecast. Address specific project issues, including make/buy decisions and cost/benefit appraisals. Presenting Financial Performance: Presenting the financial performance of the programme to both finance and non-finance audiences Take responsibility for closing month-end accounts and ensuring project accounts are fully reconciled, providing an accurate and fair view of the project’s financial position Complete the status reporting and all associated reporting for review by the Finance Manager Supporting Decision-Making Processes: Support decision-making processes and challenge contract performance when necessary, by analysing key issues, trends, risks, and opportunities. Contribute to the estimating process through the development and maintenance of accurate and robust life-of-contract models. Building Strong Relationships: Develop strong and productive working relationships with the wider organisation to ensure information incorporated is correct, current, and fully supported by the organisation. Understanding Accounting Standards: Maintaining a comprehensive understanding of accounting and its impact on profitability reporting and potential cumulative catches. Fully understand inventory classifications and the effects of accounting on different inventory categories. Supporting Operational Activities: Supporting quarterly stock-count activities by ensuring diligent and accurate counts. Liaising with external parties (auditors, customers) as required by the role. You will ideally possess much of the following knowledge, skills, and experience: Demonstrated commercial awareness with a relevant accountancy background. Proficient in IT, with strong competence in Excel and PowerPoint; SAP experience is advantageous but not essential. Hold a current recognised professional accountancy qualification (e.g., CA, ACCA, or CIMA) Self-motivated, eager to learn, and confident when interacting with all areas and levels within the business. Willing to challenge information rather than accept it at face value. Exhibit excellent communication skills. In this role you will apply technical accounting skills to make informed decisions, such as determining appropriate accounting treatments for specific circumstances. You will be expected to articulate the reasoning behind decisions and seek approval for significant decisions materially affecting the financial statements. You will have the awareness to differentiate between day-to-day operational decisions that do not require approval and those that do. You will enjoy the scope to exercise decision-making authority when dealing with external customers, suppliers, and auditors within the role's scope.
