My client is a long-established, privately-owned, profitable and dynamic engineering business with 5 sites across the North West. Due to planned developments in the Senior Leadership Team an exciting opportunity has arisen to join the business in the role of Group Financial Controller.
The Role
Reporting to the Group MD you will be a key member of the Leadership Team with Board and operational responsibility for all elements of finance, commercial management, HR and Company Secretarial duties. With the SLT you will also be a key driver of operational efficiency, business strategy and continuous improvement.
The Duties
You will manage a small, loyal team eager to develop. As with all SME businesses, your role will be varied, dynamic and will include (but not be restricted to):-
* Full responsibility for the finance function and delivering a value-adding service to the business
* Responsible for the reporting and analysis of commercial and operational performance by site, entity and revenue stream
* Budgeting, forecasting and cashflow management
* Working with the MD and Directors to design and deliver effective business planning and strategy
* Take day to day responsibility for HR, H&S and Company Secretarial matters across the Group down to site level
* Continue to drive continuous improvement in systems, processes, controls, reporting and staff development
You will be practical and keen to understand all elements of the business so you can add maximum and value and derive maximum satisfaction from your input.
The Person
* You will be a Qualified Accountant (or equivalent) with a minimum of 5 years PQE
* Experience within an engineering / project / cost-sensitive sector will be key as will experience of working in an owner-managed SME
* Experience of staff supervision and personal development of your team will be key
* You will have a pragmatic, rational, ‘can do/will do’ approach and a capable communicator and collaborator
* Be comfortable with a role that will be office and site based across the network of the Group where you can be seen and influence your colleagues
