We have a fantastic opportunity for a Permanent Construction Manager to join our Specialist Bridges Inspection and Maintenance (SBIM) contract in Bristol, working on the iconic Severn, Prince of Wales and Avonmouth Bridges.
The SBIM contract is to deliver the inspection and maintenance programme along with scheme on behalf of National Highways. This is a great opportunity to be part of delivering complex projects in the specialist structures industry.
Construction Manager plays an important part in managing the distribution of site supervision staff and ensure that they focus on the concepts of health and safety. Please note that you will be required to work at height and must be able to do so.
The standard hours of work are 37.5 per week.
You will be responsible for :
Comply with and ensure all work is carried out in accordance with all relevant health and safety legislation.
Deliver maintenance and renewals works project programme to the client's programme and budget.
Use construction and planning solutions that cause minimum disruption to traffic.
Establish resources required to deliver programme through liaison with bridge managers, maintenance managers and maintenance team leaders.
Supervision and overseeing of works on site including site visits to resolve operational, resourcing and safety issues.
Development of Construction Phase Plans and work programmes
Develop, review, and maintain safety procedures to achieve certainty of programme delivery.
Review of sub-contractor risk assessments & method statements
Review design and contractual options during the design process.
Oversee measurement and valuation of work carried out.
Review success of solutions and provide feedback to all relevant parties.
Participation in contract emergency on-call rota
Ensure all resource utilisation is captured using tablet technology.
Provide input to the commercial team for estimating work.
Ensure that the waste produced on site is correctly identified and disposed in the approved manner.
Manage employees using Amey management systems.
Mentor employee and apprentices as required.
Monitor operations and instigate corrective actions. We want to hear from you if you have:
HNC / HND Civil Engineering or similar.
2Day SSSTS / 5 Day SMSTS.
Temporary Works supervisor / Temporary works co-ordinator.
Experience of lifting operations and working at height.
Existing experience of working on highway or rail bridge structures (desirable).
Ability to manage risk and change.
Commercial awareness.
Able to plan and organise effectively.
Competent in managing projects.
Personal Highway Safety.
Environmental Awareness for Managers.
Site Management Safety.
