What will I be doing?
To take ownership of key HR processes, ensuring efficient and effective support across the employee lifecycle. The HR Advisor will work collaboratively with HR Business Partners and stakeholders, providing guidance on generalist HR and ER issues. The role requires a proactive and self-motivated approach to drive HR initiatives while maintaining compliance with employment legislation and company policies.
As part of the role, there will be a requirement to undertake accredited training to further develop HR skills and knowledge
Ownership of HR Processes:
- Take full responsibility for the management and administration of assigned HR duties.
- Ensure processes are completed in a timely and efficient manner, proactively identifying improvements.
Absence & Sickness Management:
- Take ownership of the sickness and absence management process, escalating to HRBPs as required.
- Monitor and analyse absence trends, providing data-driven insights to managers.
- Advise managers on appropriate actions, including return-to-work processes and attendance meetings.
Family Friendly:
- Manage flexible working applications, ensuring compliance with policies and legislation.
- Support managers in assessing requests and making fair, consistent decisions.
- To provide advice and guidance on maternity and paternity policies and procedures.
Occupational Health & Wellbeing:
- Coordinate occupational health referrals and clinics, ensuring timely support for employees.- - Work closely with OH providers and stakeholders to implement recommendations effectively.
Probation Management:
- Oversee the probation review process, ensuring all reviews are completed on time.
- Provide guidance to managers on performance concerns and probation extensions.
Handling Low-Level Discipline:
- Provide guidance to managers on handling minor disciplinary issues in line with company policies and employment law.
Complementary Description
- Support the investigation of low-level misconduct or performance concerns, ensuring fairness and consistency.
- Facilitate informal resolution discussions between employees and managers where appropriate.
- Document disciplinary processes accurately and ensure compliance with internal procedures.
- Escalate serious or repeated issues to HR Business Partners as necessary.
Exit Processes & Employee Lifecycle Support:
- Conduct exit interviews, identifying trends and opportunities for retention improvements.
- Support general HR initiatives, including policy updates, employee relations, and HR projects.
Other Duties:
- Undertake additional duties as required, commensurate with the responsibility level of the role.
- Support wider HR projects and initiatives as directed by the HRBPs or senior HR team.
- Assist with the HR implementation and administration of any large-scale business changes and restructures as required.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of HR practices.

Essential:
- Education: GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent). Further education such as
A-levels, BTECs, NVQs, or higher education qualifications
- HR administration or advisory experience, with a strong
understanding of HR processes.
- Proficient use of Microsoft programmes, e.g.
word/excel/powerpoint.
Skills & Attributes:
- Takes full responsibility for assigned tasks and
ensures completion.
- Works independently, using initiative to
manage workload and deadlines. Able to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Works effectively within a team, supporting
colleagues and stakeholders.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, able to provide clear HR guidance.
- Identifies issues and offers practical solutions. Able to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Ensures accuracy in HR processes and documentation.
- Discretion & Professionalism: Handles sensitive HR matters with confidentiality and integrity.
- Willingness to undertake accredited
training to develop HR skills.
- Ability to identify and implement process
improvements.
Desirable:
- CIPD Level 3 or above (or equivalent HR qualification).
- Experience using HR systems for reporting and data analysis.
