Through strong clinical leadership the Head of Nursing will support the teams to promote excellence in nursing care to maintain and improve clinical standards. The post holder will ensure that all patients are treated with compassion, dignity and respect placing value on the diversity of the local community and beyond. Partnership working is a priority in supporting the delivery of a seamless and integrated service for patients and their families with identified health needs. Patient experience is a key responsibility of the role to ensure that care is delivered to the highest quality, inspiring patient and public confidence. This will be achieved through high visibility, accessibility and surveillance and by listening to feedback from our service users through the patients voice and the Friends and Family Test feedback. Clinical Provide clinical leadership to staff within areas of responsibility, ensuring implementation of and compliance with policies and procedures including safe staffing across Urgent and Emergency services ensuring the delivery of high value, family centred, responsive and efficient patient care. Ensure services are delivered in a highly professional and clinically safe manner, in conjunction with the corporate team and in accordance with local and national policies and procedures, including compliance with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) standards. Management and Leadership Provide strong and consistent leadership to staff professional role modelling. Manage the delivery of patient care quality and experience ensuring an integrated approach with partners within health, social care, education, acute and third sector services Educational Responsibilities Complete Practice Supervisor and Assessor training and act as a practice supervisor and assessor providing supervision to junior staff, student nurses and other learners. Maintain an awareness of current developments in Urgent and Emergency Care developments and practice. Professional Development Maintain Continuous Professional Development in line with Trust Policy, the Knowledge and Skills Framework and professional bodies requirements for revalidation. Ensure own practice is up to date and evidence based and demonstrate an awareness of current, relevant research. Service improvement To have a clear understanding of the vision of the Trust and be able to translate this into local context for operational implementation within the area. To lead and support staff to work across patient pathways, encouraging and fostering joint working to facilitate seamless transition of care for patients, the principles of self-care and community engagement where possible. People Management Be responsible for the line management of the matron and Advanced Clinical Practitioners within the departments. Assist with monitoring staff attendance to ensure a healthy and safe environment for staff and patients.
