Introduction About the Great Ocean Road Coast and Parks Authority The Great Ocean Road Coast and Parks Authority (the Authority) was established on 1 December 2020 to deliver better protection and management of the iconic coast and parks of Victoria’s Great Ocean Road. In partnership with Traditional Owners, our role is to manage, protect, rehabilitate and foster resilience of the natural, cultural and heritage values of coastal Crown land and marine waters along the Great Ocean Road. As a public land manager for the Great Ocean Road coast and parks, we manage a wide variety of public land from National Parks to coastal beaches to town foreshores. We also lead visitation policy and planning for the scenic landscapes along the Great Ocean Road to manage visitation and provide a great visitor experience. All revenue raised through our commercial endeavours is reinvested into the coast to ensure the Great Ocean Road region can be enjoyed now and for generations to come. Description About the Accommodation Services Team: Our ten self-managed coastal Caravan Parks and Cape Otway Lightstation generate the majority of the Authority revenue. We are the single largest accommodation provider on the Great Ocean Road with over 800,000 visitor nights annually. Situated adjacent to some of the most spectacular beaches on the coast, we offer a range of accommodation options for families, tourists, students and visitors. Our team currently manages Caravan Parks and Recreation Reserves from Torquay to Princetown, along the iconic Great Ocean Road. Primary responsibilities: The Accommodation and Commercial Officer is accountable for the provision of high-quality support to the Accommodation Services and Commercial portfolio. The position overall, is responsible for assisting the Accommodation Services operations with the collection of guest experience data/analysis, project management, revenue management and general support as required by the Commercial & Tourism team. This position is primarily responsible for: Maintaining a thorough knowledge of the Authority’s commercial assets. Preparation of correspondence and responding to queries for internal and external stakeholders. Supporting the Accommodation Services Manager with the daily commercial operations activities. Receiving, handling and transmitting confidential information in an efficient and professional manner, maintaining the confidentiality and integrity of the information in line with the Privacy Act. Assisting the Accommodation Services Manager with the timely delivery and implementation of projects associated with commercial operations. Assisting and providing guidance to the Caravan Park & Lightstation Managers with operational requirements as directed by management. Assisting the Accommodation Services Manager with the collection and collation of information for the preparation of a range of reports for the department. Collating and providing advice and analysis in relation to guest experiences to assist in commercial operations decision making. Understanding and improving equity of access on crown land caravan and camping grounds ensuring best practice. Understanding and compliance with organisational OHS policies, procedures and other legislative requirements relevant to the position. Understanding and providing support with Annual Permit Holder compliance. Understanding and contributing to the improvement of relevant policies and procedures where appropriate. Other duties as may occasionally be required including but not limited to assisting at the various commercial operations within the Authority's remit. Skills And Experiences Qualifications and Experience: A tertiary qualification in Business Management or similar discipline. Prior experience in project management (preferred). A minimum of three (3) years of demonstrable skills and experience in hospitality, tourism or customer facing office environment. RMS booking software experience (strongly preferred). Knowledge and skills: Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, including ability to draft reports and correspondence. Excellent organisational and time management skills, with an ability to prioritize, managing competing work tasks and deliver to agreed deadlines. Demonstrated initiative and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently, with limited supervision as well as in a team supporting a continuous improvement culture. Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to work with a broad range of people from a variety of backgrounds and experiences, including cultural sensitivity and cross-culture communication. Advanced computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, and database applications.
