Main duties of the job
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Strategic Head of Allied Health Professions (AHPs) to join our AHP and Nursing team. At North East and North Cumbria Integrated Care Board, we are committed to providing high-quality care and support to our community.
The post is part-time ( and offered as a secondment/fixed term contract for 12 months, to provide a career development opportunity for cross system working for a Registered AHP.

The ICB is responsible for ensuring that high quality and safe health services are accessible to all of our communities. It has a wide range of functions, including; promoting integration of health and care services, improving peoples health and well-being, reducing health inequalities.
With a £ billion budget and a workforce of 170,000 people across the North East and North Cumbria. As well as strategic functions, ICB staff also work at place level with local health and wellbeing boards in each of our 14 local authority areas. These teams also work alongside our 67 primary care networks which are groups of local GP practices, social care teams and other community- based area providers.
The ICB works with our Provider Collaborative too, this includes the 11 NHS Foundation Trusts in the region, to deliver our shared priorities.

Job responsibilities
The remit of the post covers Allied Health Professions (AHP) Delivery for the NENC ICB.
If you are a dynamic, experienced, passionate AHP system leader, this role will provide a unique opportunity to apply your strategic leadership skills to:
Work in collaboration with the 14 AHP professions and the wider ICB team and across the ICS, to support the Director of AHPs to deliver the AHP portfolio of projects. Lead a designated portfolio of key areas and programmes, ensuring these are delivered in line with ICB/ICS and AHP priorities, within required timescales and that key objectives are met and reported on. Working collaboratively as part of the senior leadership team within the ICB supporting the delivery of key objectives and strategic goals, which includes working in partnership with system leaders to find new ways of working that improve AHP outcomes and experience. Support the Director of AHPs (NMAHP and Quality Directorate) in assuring and ensuring delivery of the required responsibilities for AHP Provide support and communications to NENC AHP Council, NENC AHP Faculty and their associated sub-groups. Lead AHP cross system working, responsible for the delivery of AHP responsibilities across your designated portfolio. Support the ICS by ensuring implementation of NENC ICS AHP strategy "AHPs Deliver Better Health and Wellbeing for All" and the NENC ICS AHP Workforce Plan. This includes multi-agency working and integrated working with AHP leads in local authorities. Support the ICB Executive Lead for AHP (Executive Chief Nurse) in meeting the requirements of AHP programmes of work. Act as a compassionate and inclusive leader who can champion AHP provision across multiple forums, platforms and organisations. Oversee delivery of the ICB AHP Programmes of work making sure that there is alignment to LDT priorities and action plans.

Qualifications
Essential
1. Registered AHP clinical professional with evidence of current professional registration.
2. Degree level qualification or evidence or academic achievement.
3. Educated to master's level or equivalent level of experience of working at a senior level in specialist area.

4. Significant evidence of post registration continued professional development / Postgraduate leadership and/or management qualification.

5. Experience of successfully operating in and delivering priorities in a partnership environment
6. Significant management experience at senior level in the NHS or other public healthcare related industry
7. Experience of imparting advanced specialist/complex knowledge and skills to Boards and Senior Management Teams
8. Demonstrable experience in managing highly sensitive situations with patients, families, or carers and/or with wider advocating agencies
