Job summary This is a rare opportunity for a Clinical Psychologist to join our friendly and supportive children's disability services as their Consultant. They will work into the Gwynedd and Anglesey integrated health and social care teams that provide assessments and therapeutic interventions for children and young people with learning disabilities, their families and carers. This is a key role, contributing to the psychological-mindedness of the teams, and providing direct and indirect interventions for children and their families with the most complex needs. Advanced skills in assessment, formulation, intervention and evaluation; along with supervision, training and consultation will be crucial. We are looking for a highly experienced and passionate clinical leader to take forward psychological leadership locally, contributing also to developments regionally and nationally. They will work with the leadership team to ensure provision of high quality psychological care and service improvement. We value close working with local child and adolescent neurodevelopment and mental health services, and our multiagency partners. They will have considerable experience of providing effective and compassionate leadership, and be able to inspire and support others at all stages of career development, and promote a culture of learning and innovation. Main duties of the job Lead responsibility for clinical decisions which require analysis, interpretation and comparison of options. Provide a highly specialised clinical psychology service to clients. Work autonomously in accordance with The BPS Code of Conduct, Ethical Principles and Guidelines 2004, and HCPC. Delegated responsibility, in consultation with the Head of Child Psychology, for professional leadership, planning, provision and review of BCUHB Child Clinical Psychology Services. Be accountable for own professional actions and decisions. In collaboration with the Head of Child Psychology, devise, develop, interpret and implement discrete policies and service developments, develop psychological therapy provision and ensure clinical governance processes are implemented. Hold a highly specialist clinical caseload of clients with complex needs. Provide clinical supervision to multi-disciplinary colleagues. Provide highly specialist advice and consultancy on Child Psychology issues. Ensure provision of child clinical placements for the North Wales Clinical Psychology Programme (NWCPP) doctoral trainees and provide supervised placements. Provide teaching and training for multi-disciplinary BCUHB staff and for the NWCPP. Utilise highly specialised research skills for audit, policy, service development and research.
