The Role
The Policy, Integrity and Performance Team within Research, Innovation and Knowledge Exchange (RIKE) is looking to recruit a Policy Officer (Management Information). The team has a number of key institutional responsibilities, providing support across a range of areas to ensure the highest possible standards of research. The team has oversight of research integrity, research governance and compliance, including the trusted research agenda. This covers university policies and processes, research management information (as the business owner for PURE, the university’s research information system), leadership of the Research Excellence Framework (REF) and impact agenda, and leading statutory returns such as the Higher Education Business and Community Interaction Survey (HE-BCI).
The Policy Officer (Management Information) will report to the Head of Policy, Integrity and Performance and will focus on the operational aspects of providing strategic reporting and management information about the University's research activities. This will include supporting the work of the Policy, Integrity and Performance team as well as senior stakeholders and committees in understanding research performance by analysing data and designing dashboards and other reports to understand the university’s key performance indicators and best showcase relevant management information. The role is key to the delivery of the University’s submission to the REF through the provision of relevant data and supporting and developing underlying processes. The post holder will contribute to the University’s wider research assessment agenda by supporting policy development. They will also work with Pure, the University's Research system, to identify needs and priorities and work with colleagues in information services to implement subsequent development plans.
Skills, Experience & Qualification needed include:
* Experience of research support within the Higher Education sector
* Experience of presenting management information
* Awareness of the national research policy priorities in relation to Universities
* Experience of database systems and the use of data for management information, including responsible use of data and GDPR
* An understanding of the issues relating to the setting of metrics used in measuring research performance
* Knowledge of data visualisation and extract, transform and load tools used to develop reporting workflows and visualisations
