We are currently seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated support worker to join our neonatal team.
This post will be suitable for anyone with an interest in working within a healthcare setting whose aim would be to assist in the smooth running of a busy Neonatal Unit by supporting qualified staff in their day-to-day duties.
Main duties of the job
The responsibilities of the job will be interesting, varied and challenging and will be diverse in content but mainly consisting of housekeeping duties. The post holder will be expected to communicate with members of the neonatal team and extended multi-disciplinary team.
The Neonatal Unit offers a 24-hour service. The post holder will be required to work on a Monday-Sunday rota to ensure service needs are met.

Job responsibilities

To provide excellent standards of cleanliness whilst working to schedules relevant to allocated areas.
Clean medical device equipment as directed, and set up ready for use.
Ensure the clinical areas within the department are well stocked.
Monitor stores and order replacements as required.
Responsible for carrying out tasks as delegated by the NICU nurse in charge and Unit Manager.
Person Specification
Experience
* Previous experience in a similar role.
* Previous NHS experience.
Qualifications
* Basic Numeracy and Literacy at Level 1
* Numeracy and Literacy at Level 2 or above
Physical Skills
* Mobility to be able to stand and walk for long periods of the shift.
* Ability to follow Trust policy for moving and handling.
* Mobility to be able to push and pull large pieces of equipment around the department.
* Ability to sit at a workstation as necessary to perform the post.
* Accuracy required when using IT devices.
Knowledge & Skills
* Ability to work without continuous supervision.
* Ability to plan and manage workload.
* Ability to work under pressure.
* Basic keyboard skills.
* Effective interpersonal skills in sensitive situations.
* Ability to learn about management and maintenance of technical equipment.
* Ability to communicate messages and instructions accurately to colleagues, both verbally and in writing.
* Ability to use basic email system and document clearly.
* Basic understanding of health and safety requirements in a patient environment.
* General understanding of confidentiality requirements in a healthcare setting.
* Willing to undertake further training and Competency Based Assessments relating to the role.
