Economic Strategy and Policy Coordinator

An exciting and challenging opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified and experienced individual to join the regeneration & funding team to take a leading role in the development, coordination and implementation of economic strategy and policy, ensuring that decisions are founded on a sound evidence-base and deliverable, and have real and lasting benefit on the ground.
We are looking for a strategic and analytical thinker, who is an excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills to develop, influence and sustain effective working relationships with a wide range of partners and organisations.
As Economic Strategy and Policy Coordinator, you will be responsible for:
* Exploring and developing a detailed understanding of developments and emerging issues in legislative, guidance and policy changes in order to collaborate on, develop and influence local and regional economic policy and strategy and engage with key stakeholders.
* Coordinating the research, analysis, development, implementation and evaluation of economic policy and strategy, ensuring that their contribution to the Council Business Plan, East Riding Local Plan and Hull and East Yorkshire mayoral combined authority (MCA) strategic framework is clearly identified.
* Providing specialised analysis of relevant data and intelligence, e.g. via the Local Economic Assessment (LEA) and other economic data tools, to reflect the implications of changes in the strategic context and help develop proposals for improvement to local economic performance.
* Coordinating, monitoring and reporting on progress against key strategic performance indicators, milestones and outcomes.
* Coordinating the council’s input into relevant local, regional and national strategies, policies and consultations, working closely with the Hull and East Yorkshire MCA and other stakeholders e.g. neighbouring authorities, government departments, etc.
* Supporting the Service and Business Development Manager in implementing relevant ED&C service improvement and business development projects with a focus on achieving efficiencies and potential income generation.
You will be joining a friendly team of professional staff who have a wealth of experience and are keen to support you to develop your skills and knowledge within our busy and challenging environment. The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate their specialist knowledge of relevant economic data sets and statistics, together with excellent organisational, analytical and IT skills and a sound knowledge of performance management.
This is a full-time, permanent post based at County Hall, Beverley. You will operate in a hybrid way with working from home as an option for part of the week.
