SUMMARY The Marketing & Communications Intern will support the Marketing & Communications Manager in executing marketing and communication strategies while gaining hands-on experience in content creation, social media management, and graphic design. BACKGROUND We believe no one should go hungry and that there is a solution to the problem of hunger in Alabama. The Community Food Bank of Central Alabama feeds people in need today?and fosters collaborative solutions to end hunger tomorrow. We serve 12 counties in central Alabama: Jefferson, Blount, Calhoun, Cherokee, Clay, Cleburne, Etowah, Talladega, Shelby, St. Clair, Walker and Winston Counties. In 2024, we distributed over 20.5 million lbs. of food which equates to over 24.6 million meals. Requirements DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES · Develop and schedule social media content through the end of the year. · Photograph volunteers and events for marketing and promotional use. · Design marketing materials, including but not limited to distribution flyers, holiday graphics, and social media visuals. · Update and refresh website content as needed. · Monitor and engage with social media platforms. · Create and organize design templates in Canva for future use. · Assist with additional projects as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS · Strong ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines. · Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. · Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. · Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). · Basic experience with design software such as Canva and Adobe Creative Cloud. · Ability to operate various camera platforms for photography and content creation. ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS · Ability to work at a computer for extended periods. · Ability to communicate effectively with diverse constituents and staff. · Ability to read, count, and accurately complete documentation. · Ability to use hands for tasks such as handling documents and operating equipment. · Close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. · Ability to sit, stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms, and lift up to 15 pounds. · Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
