A new opportunity has recently opened up for a Mental Health Support Assistant to work in a lovely specialist school supporting vulnerable children. They are seeing someone to start asap.
The students that attend this setting have been identified as struggling with Autism as their main diagnosis, but they also struggle with other co-existing needs such as mental health difficulties and behavioural needs. This school is looking for someone who is going to come in and make a real difference in supporting students with their interventions and ensure that they are staying on track.
This is an important role where you will be responsible for facilitating and providing tailored emotional support to students, helping them navigate their feelings, build resilience, and develop coping strategies. As an Emotional Support Worker, you will work closely with teachers, parents, and external professionals to create a supportive and safe environment for our students.
You will be involved in the development of students' social skills, emotional regulation, and academic engagement through the use of therapy, all in a supportive and nurturing environment.
Some responsibilities of a Mental Health Assistant include:
1. Providing one-to-one support to students while working through their intervention plans.
2. Supporting them in various class activities and exercises.
3. Priming the students for lessons before they need to sit in class and helping them focus on the coursework.
To be considered for the role, you will need to have an enthusiastic and positive attitude. These learners need someone who will come in and be a pillar of support for them. They need someone who will prioritise their safety and ensure that the classroom is a fun and engaging place where learning can take place.
