Role Overview
Are you ready to take on a pivotal role in shaping the safety culture of a Net-Zero megaproject? We have an exciting opportunity for a Health & Safety Manager to lead and drive operational safety excellence at Specialist Passenger Solutions (SPS), part of First Bus.
In this role, you'll be at the forefront of ensuring the highest health and safety standards across our operations, implementing robust procedures, and driving continuous improvement. Your leadership will help shape a proactive safety culture, ensuring full compliance with regulatory requirements while championing best practices across the business.

Key Responsibilities
* Provide proactive support and guidance to the Company on compliance with statutory Safety, Health and Environmental requirements and company standards.
* Respond to requests for advice from colleagues and external organisations.
* Assist in the completion of risk assessments relating to Safety, Health and Environmental as required.
* Work with operational teams to ensure that Safety, Health and Environmental factors are considered at all stages and that relevant control measures are identified.
* Undertake monitoring and auditing of the company's activities, offices and work locations.
* Investigate incidents where required and produce detailed factual reports identifying root causes and recommendations for improvement.
* Liaise with authorities and external agencies as necessary.
* Ensure that an adequate programme of training for Safety, Health and Environmental is established and that the safety culture is encouraged amongst employees.
* Raise awareness on Safety, Health and Environmental issues through toolbox talks and briefings, delivering training where necessary.
Skills & Experience
Essential:
* 3 years' experience in a Safety, Health & Environmental role.
* Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office based packages and health and safety IT systems.
* Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
* Keen eye for detail and a methodical approach to work.
* Ability to produce analytical data and performance reports.
* Excellent written and communication skills adaptable to a wide range of audiences.
* Confident and willing to communicate with Senior Managers, Clients and Site Personnel.
* Ability to drive behavioural culture change programmes across a large, complex, multi-shift operation.
* Awareness of GDPR principles.
* A flexible approach to working hours as we are a 24/7 business.
Desirable:
* 3 years of experience in a Safety, Health & Environmental Manager role.
* Ability to operate cloud based SHE software systems.
Qualifications & Knowledge
Essential:
* Driving Licence
* NEBOSH General Certificate
* Membership of a professional body (IOSH etc)
Desirable:
* NEBOSH Diploma
* Knowledge of the transport industry
