Job Description
A well established, leading electronic instrumentation company based near Colchester are looking to recruit an experienced Test Engineer to test PCB’s and electronic assemblies to ensure quality and performance.
Duties:
* Testing and fault-finding PCBs to component level
* Testing complete assemblies
* Ensure instructions, documents and test results are kept up to date
* Ensure products are handled and tested correctly, including storage and anti-static precautions.
* Implement new processes and generate instructions and documents in accordance with job requirements
* Add product details to ERP system
* Provide yield statistics and offer technical recommendations where appropriate.
* Train other employees on techniques and specific methods making recommendations to the Production Supervisor regarding any training deficiencies.
* Communicate any testing issues to the Production Supervisor.
* Some travel may be required
What's required:
* Electronic qualifications with BTEC ONC/HNC or City & Guilds as a minimum
* Must be able to read circuit diagrams and fault find to component level.
* Must have experience in an electronic manufacturing environment.
* Good component recognition skills are essential
* Experience of using electronic testing equipment, such as bench power supplies, multi meters and oscilloscopes is a must
* Excellent problem solving and trouble shooting skills are essential along with computer skills.
* Knowledge of using PIC programming tools and similar devices is preferable
* Able to create/edit technical instructions is essential.
* Soldering experience would be beneficial.
