About the role

We’re looking for an HGV Driver (C E) with proven experience of transport legislation compliance including driver’s hours regulations and also the Working Time Directive in line with ‘O’ licence legislation and company procedures.
As part of the role, you will Maintain a clean and compliant vehicle, ensuring pre-use checks and defect reporting procedures are practiced, satisfying DVSA requirements. You will also take charge of the safe and secure loading/unloading of a tipper trailer adhering to all NWL Health and Safety requirements, ensuring that you contribute and work in line with our “Everyone Home Safe Everyday” policy.

About you:
To be successful, you will need have a C E licence entitlement, a valid Driver tachograph card and Driver CPC. You will need to be able to demonstrate a good working knowledge of EU Drivers Hours rules and Working Time Regulations.
Please note as part of the role you will work a rotational pattern (4/7) (days, nights and weekend days) so your flexibility will be important. You will meet lots of great people here at Northumbrian water and will become part and work within a team, this is not to say that on occasion you will not work on your own.
We need to keep the water running 24/7 so you may need to be part of a stand-by rota, but you will be compensated for this.
Tipper experience is preferred but don’t worry if you don’t have this as we will give you the training and support you need to be successful in the role.
Please note – This role has been defined as a safety or security critical role and as a condition of a formal offer of employment you’ll be required to undergo a drug and alcohol test. Prospective employees and agency workers in defined safety and security critical roles will be required to undertake a drug and alcohol test after the job offer has been made.
This will be prior to or within four weeks of their start date. Prospective employees and agency workers who fail a pre-employment urine drug screen will have their sample analysed by the Company appointed laboratory as a matter of course. Failing a pre-employment drugs or alcohol test may lead to the job offer being revoked.
