We’re seeking a highly organised individual to join our Surveying team, to scope building repairs and control contractor variations and pricing. As Desktop Property Surveyor for AXA Insurance, you’ll deliver quality and cost containment for domestic and commercial property building claims. We’re expanding the use of Xactware software with new suppliers, so you’ll provide technical support to internal and external users of this system. Driven to develop your career, this role will kick start your development path to becoming a field-based Property Surveyor. You'll work at least 40% of your week away from home, moving to the majority of your working week from September 2025. Away from home means either attendance at either our Bolton or Morecambe office, visiting clients or attending industry events. What you’ll be doing: Provide efficient and effective desktop validations and Xactware quality reviews. Proactively manage claims to settlement within agreed authority levels, in compliance with company policy, processes and to quality standards. Demonstrate effective communication and negotiation skills, which develop and maintain good customer relationships and deliver excellent customer care. Make use of all desktop tools available to provide a cost efficient and timely claims handling service. Identify improvements to the claims process and bring these to the attention of the Surveying Team Manager. Provide quality reviews on at least 10% of all claims that pass the Xactware. Building pathology experience - essential Understanding of insurance principles and claims processes - essential. Household and commercial insurance experience – preferred. Understanding and experience using Xactware - preferred. Strong negotiation skills and able to work in a team. Excellent customer service experience and ability to manage expectations effectively. Ability to prioritise and manage own caseload effectively. As a precondition of employment for this role, you must be eligible and authorised to work in the United Kingdom. This position has been defined as an Insurance Distribution Directive (IDD) role under the IDD regime which means that in addition to pre-employment screening checks, the successful candidate will be subject to background screening every 4 years with an annual declaration in interim years.
