A fantastic school in Newbury has an opportunity for a recent graduate to join their team in a Mental Health Assistant role in January 2025. The school provides education to students with complex needs, learning disabilities, as well as social, emotional, and mental health needs. As a Mental Health Assistant, the candidate would be responsible for providing students with 1-1 support and attention throughout the school day. The candidate would encourage students to maintain focus and work towards achieving independence and life skills. The school is looking for a graduate to join their team and work alongside the support staff and on-site professionals. As a Mental Health Assistant, you will develop an understanding of additional needs and how to support children facing challenges while in education.
The Mental Health Assistant role is a crucial position within the SEN setting, so they are seeking a candidate who can work under their own initiative, has emotional intelligence, and a genuine interest in seeing the pupils succeed. The Mental Health Assistant will be working with a small group of students alongside a specialist SEN Teacher and a second Mental Health Assistant. This opportunity is invaluable to criminology or psychology graduates looking for an open door into the industry and who have an interest in how support and prevention can improve young people's development and keep them on a positive path in society.
