PDA Teaching Assistant Location: Well-Resourced 2-Form Entry Primary School, Ossett (via PK Education) Role Overview: PK Education is excited to offer an opportunity for a PDA Teaching Assistant to work at a truly amazing, well-resourced, and highly welcoming primary school in Ossett. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the life of a Year 2 pupil with Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA), a condition often associated with Autism Spectrum Disorder. You will work closely with the pupil, utilising your skills, techniques, and strategies to build a trusting relationship, increase their engagement in lessons, improve academic attainment, and develop social skills. If you are experienced in working with children with PDA and have a patient, creative approach, this is the perfect role for you Key Responsibilities: Provide 1:1 support to a Year 2 pupil with PDA. Implement a range of strategies and techniques to build a strong, trusting relationship with the pupil. Support the pupil's engagement in lessons, helping them access the curriculum and achieve academic success. Foster the development of social skills and positive behaviours. Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and other staff to develop personalised strategies for the pupil. Encourage independence, resilience, and a love of learning in the pupil. Key Requirements: Experience working with pupils with PDA or Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Strong understanding of behaviour management strategies, particularly for pupils with PDA. The ability to build trusting, supportive relationships with pupils. Patience, empathy, and a positive, proactive approach to supporting children with additional needs. Ability to work Monday to Thursday. An understanding of the importance of fostering both academic and social development in children. Hours & Duration: Start date: ASAP.
