Position Overview:
We are seeking a Principal RF Engineer with extensive experience in board-level and system-level RF electronics design. The ideal candidate enjoys working in a start-up environment and is passionate about developing leading-edge phased arrays for satellites, spacecraft, and aerospace systems.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Design and develop RF circuits, modules, and systems through all phases of the development process.
2. Proficiency in board-level schematic design and PCB layout of RF circuits.
3. Expertise in system-level communications concepts such as link budgets and modulation schemes.
4. End-to-end RF product development, including RF front ends, frequency converters, synthesizers, filters, beamformers, power dividers, and phased array antennas.
5. Responsible for RF system and hardware designs from initial concept through requirements definition, architecture definition, part selection, detailed design, analysis, manufacturing, testing, qualification, and in-orbit support.
6. Present engineering design review materials to customers and the executive team.
7. Participate in proposal-writing efforts.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Electrical Engineering (EE) from an accredited university or institution. Master of Science (MS) desired.
2. Minimum of 9 years of industry experience in design and analysis of RF electronics and systems.
3. Expert-level proficiency in professional simulation tools such as CST and ADS, as well as EDA tools like Altium.
4. Extensive hands-on experience with lab instruments such as vector network analysers, spectrum analysers, signal generators, and oscilloscopes.
5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Experience:
1. Python or other programming.
2. Aerospace electronics design, development, and qualification.
3. Worst-case circuit analysis, failure method and criticality analyses, and reliability analysis.
4. Antenna design.
5. EMI/EMC design and mitigation techniques.
