About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and internationally collaborative research team working on two National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Research and Innovation for Global Health Transformation (RIGHT-6) funded projects:
1. ACROSS (Affordable Cardiac Rehabilitation: An Outreach Interdisciplinary Strategic Study) – This project aims to develop and evaluate accessible, cost-effective cardiac rehabilitation interventions for low-resource settings. By working with international partners, ACROSS seeks to improve post-cardiac event recovery through community-based approaches.
2. Moving on ABC (Integrated Psychosocial Care Plan for Comorbid Depression in Breast Cancer Patients in Low-Resource Settings) – This project focuses on enhancing psychosocial support for individuals with breast cancer who also experience depression. The study will integrate mental health care into cancer treatment pathways to improve patient outcomes and quality of life.
As a Research Assistant, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth coordination and delivery of these projects. You will work closely with Professor Nusrat Husain and research teams at the University of Manchester, University of Glasgow, University of Sheffield and international partner institutions to facilitate research capacity building, oversee project logistics, and support data collection and analysis. Your responsibilities will include:
3. Coordinating research activities, including planning, scheduling, and tracking project progress.
4. Facilitating communication between UK-based and international research teams, ensuring alignment on objectives and timelines.
5. Supporting research capacity building by assisting in training sessions, workshops, and knowledge-sharing activities with partner institutions.
6. Managing ethical approvals and regulatory compliance, including preparing applications and ensuring amendments are implemented correctly.
7. Overseeing data collection and analysis, ensuring high-quality, reliable data is gathered in line with research protocols.
8. Liaising with stakeholders, including healthcare professionals, policymakers, and community representatives, to integrate research findings into practice.
9. Organising and contributing to patient and public involvement (PPI) meetings, ensuring patient perspectives are central to research developments.
10. Preparing reports, peer-reviewed publications, and presentations to disseminate findings to both academic and public audiences.
This role offers an excellent opportunity for professional development, providing hands-on experience in global health research, interdisciplinary collaboration, and health systems strengthening. Occasional international travel may be required to support meetings, workshops, and stakeholder engagements in partner countries.
