Job Title: Maintenance Engineer - Electronic Security and Fire Detection and Alarm Systems Reports to: Operations Manager and the MD. Job Purpose: The position is for a maintenance engineer responsible for maintaining clients' electronic security and fire detection and alarm systems on a maintenance plan rotational basis. Security systems include Intruder Alarms, Electronic Access Control, Closed Circuit Television, and Audio and Video Door Intercom Systems. Duties and Responsibilities: Fault finding, servicing, and maintaining all of the above-listed disciplines Being on standby duty for out-of-hours call out one week in four (or as required) Attending call-outs at any hour if on duty Filling in correct paperwork and submitting it to the office in a timely fashion, e.g., records of operational checks, handover checklist and completion certificates, job sheets Completing daily time sheets, mileage returns, and expense claims (where applicable) each month and submitting in a timely fashion Qualifications: Full UK driving license with no more than three penalty points No motor insurance claims in the last five years GCSE or equivalent in maths, English, and one science subject NVQ or equivalent in security or fire systems Knowledge and experience of the security and fire systems industry, preferably backed up by documentary evidence of the same Knowledge and experience of the latest security systems regulations and standards Knowledge and experience of the latest fire detection and alarm systems regulations and standards Knowledge and experience of the latest electrical installation regulations and standards Knowledge and experience of Health and Safety legislation and requirements The right candidates must be able to think for themselves and be good at problem-solving The right candidate must be personable and able to communicate effectively with clients The successful candidate will need to be security vetted by the Company, including CRB checks, within 13 weeks of employment commencing Working Conditions: Standby duty one week in four or as required 8 hours per day on-site excluding breaks Frequent travelling/driving to central London “Work until the job is completed” within reason Physical Requirements: The right candidates should have a reasonable level of fitness commensurate with the role and must be able to work at moderate heights (1 to 7 metres) from step ladders and extension ladders and greater heights from a mobile elevated working platform (cherry picker).
