Alternative Provision School – Key Stage 3

Are you passionate about sports and interested in supporting young people who thrive in an alternative learning environment? Do you have the patience, empathy, and energy to engage students with challenging behaviour in positive and meaningful ways?
We are seeking a dynamic Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to work within the PE department in an alternative provision school for Key Stage 3 students. All of the students have Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs), and many have found mainstream schooling challenging. They aim to provide a supportive and engaging space where students can rebuild their confidence and achieve personal success.
The Role:
* Work closely with the PE department to support students in physical activities and sports, encouraging their active participation.
* Assist with planning and delivering tailored sports sessions that engage students of all abilities.
* Help students develop teamwork, discipline, and personal responsibility through physical education.
* Manage and de-escalate challenging behavior, creating a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment.
* Build trusting relationships with students, helping them feel supported, valued, and comfortable in their surroundings.
Key Requirements:
* An interest in sports and physical education, with experience in coaching or a similar role being highly desirable.
* Experience working with young people who have experienced difficulties in mainstream education.
* Ability to manage and support students displaying challenging behavior in a calm, understanding manner.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on building positive relationships with students.
* A genuine commitment to helping students build confidence, skills, and a sense of belonging through sport and physical activity.
