We are looking for a Part-time Clinical Research Nurse on a fixed-term contract until December 2026; we will also consider bank contracts.
Working Monday – Friday with no requirement to work nights.
We are seeking registered nurses who can work in the East Midlands region and be able to travel in the areas of Nottingham, Leicester, and Northampton.
The salary offered for this role is £38,000 - £42,000 pro rata, dependent on experience.
About the Project
Building on our track record of delivering pioneering research, we are collaborating with Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Trust, University of Cambridge, and the Cancer Research UK (CRUK) King’s College London Cancer Prevention Trials Unit (CPTU) to deliver a clinical trial into the early detection of Oesophageal Cancer, the BEST 4 Screening Study.
This exciting new project is funded by CRUK and the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR). The trial aims to determine whether the capsule sponge test can be used for early diagnosis of oesophageal cancer and reduce the number of deaths due to this condition.
The BEST4 screening study will recruit 120,000 participants, of whom 40,000 will receive the capsule sponge test on the BEST 4 mobile units located in approximately 5 regions across the UK. To support this study, we are recruiting Clinical Research Nurses to work across different locations within a designated region. This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in a groundbreaking clinical trial and work across different locations carrying out clinical trial activities to ensure the successful delivery and recruitment of the BEST 4 study.
Responsibilities
You will be responsible for managing clinics on the BEST 4 mobile unit and will be trained to administer the capsule sponge test. You will work alongside established clinical teams, researchers, research nurses, and administrators to facilitate recruitment, sample collection, data entry, and provide clinical support as required. You will need to travel to various sites and undertake clinics in a mobile unit.
You will also liaise closely with the clinic coordinator regarding appointments and cover on the unit. You will work closely with the Clinical Coordinator, Clinical Research Team, and Project Managers at KCL, Cambridge, and EMS to ensure we meet the study objectives. You will be responsible for ensuring clinical and regulatory compliance, and that each participant's journey and individual experience is to the highest standard, which is a vital part of this role.
Requirements
1. NMC Registration with continued CPD
2. Previous research experience or Upper GI experience
3. Knowledge of research methodology
4. Significant post-registration clinical experience
5. Experience in performing nurse-led clinics
6. Full UK residency and a full and clean valid driving licence
7. Degree in a related subject area
8. ICH GCP Training
9. Knowledge of research regulations at the national level
10. Prior experience in cancer research and endoscopy
11. Prior experience of working with the capsule sponge test
