Job Summary
An exciting opportunity to start to develop your career in the role of Apprentice Commis Chef. You will bring a positive approach and excellent customer service ensuring dishes are being prepared to the correct recipe and quantity and that they are correctly garnished and portioned. You will ensure sections are kept clean and tidy and that stocks are kept in good condition. You will develop your skills and knowledge of food preparation and cooking.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
1. To ensure that all dishes are being prepared to the correct recipe and to the correct quantity;
2. To ensure that all dishes reach the hot plate or pass correctly garnished, the correct portion and size, presented on the prescribed serving dish in the prescribed manner;
3. To ensure that sections are being kept clean and tidy at all times;
4. To ensure that volunteers and trainees receive the right training and optimum guidance;
5. To ensure that all stocks are kept under optimum conditions;
6. To ensure that food is always freshly prepared and on time;
7. To ensure that any anticipated shortages are communicated promptly to the head chef;
8. To attend training courses and seminars as and when required;
9. To constantly update your knowledge and skills for the good of the establishment;
10. To display a positive approach to excellent customer service at all times.
General Duties and Responsibilities:
1. All employees are required to abide by the Health and Safety at Work Act, attend annual mandatory training sessions and ensure they comply with Hospice policies and procedures at all times;
2. Employees must demonstrate commitment to their own personal development and are required to make a positive contribution to fundraising and raising the profile of the Hospice;
3. Strict confidentiality applying to all aspects of Hospice business must be observed at all times.
