West Cumbria Rivers Trust is an environmental charity dedicated to improving watercourses and surrounding catchments in West Cumbria for people and wildlife. Our patch covers several principal river catchments and seven iconic lakes spanning a substantial part of the Lake District National Park, West Cumbria, and the Solway. We have an impressive track record of successfully delivering watery projects.
Working closely with existing members of our team, you will help deliver projects to prevent, detect, control and eradicate invasive non-native species (INNS) across the WCRT area. You will also have opportunities to help deliver projects to restore watercourses, improve water quality, reduce flood risk, improve catchment biodiversity, and connect people with the natural environment.
The successful candidate will be able to work with farmers, partners such as Natural England & the Environment Agency, and the wider community to tackle INNS. They will be able to develop projects, have a degree in a relevant field, some relevant work experience and be willing to use their initiative with support from others. It is ideally suited to someone looking to develop further skills and experience in the conservation sector and someone who is interested in managing projects of their own in the future.
This is an exciting opportunity with no two days likely to be the same. The successful candidate will be part of a friendly, passionate and helpful team, reporting to the Assistant Director and supported by the wider staff team. If that isn’t enough, we have a plentiful supply of chocolate biscuits too.
If you believe that you have the passion, commitment and skills to take this exciting opportunity forward then we would like to hear from you. For further details please visit the West Cumbria Rivers Trust website: www.westcumbriariverstrust.org/jobs
