Various engineering roles are available on our client's deepwater trawler fishing vessel based out of Timaru for experienced and qualified staff. We are looking for workers with experience on similar vessels that catch, process, and freeze their product while out at sea. Contracts are for 11 months of the year which is mostly spent at sea, with a short turnaround between trips of 1-2 days.
To be considered, candidates must have New Zealand recognised qualifications that are relevant to the position they are applying for, and be able to demonstrate their experience in those positions. This means that your CV must clearly show your experience and relevant qualifications, as well as the other points required below. Applicants without the requisite experience/qualifications and eligibility will not be considered.
We are looking for candidates who have:
* Eligibility to work in New Zealand (residency, citizenship)
* Relevant Maritime New Zealand certificate of competency and ancillary courses applicable to the vessel survey and operational area, or a qualification gained overseas that is accepted by Maritime New Zealand as equivalent
* Two years' experience as an engineering officer on board a deep-water trawler vessel operating in offshore waters (please show clearly on CV)
* Substantial experience with Japanese built maritime machinery, including main engines, auxiliary engines, generators, and refrigeration systems.
* Related New Zealand recognised industry qualifications (please show clearly on CV)
* No criminal record in any country
* The ability to pass drug and alcohol testing
* Good general knowledge of fishing operations
