Information about the role:
You’ll deliver the Prevent agenda across the wider policing family and external partnerships, facilitating engagement with local policing teams, partner agencies both statutory and non-statutory, and with communities to safeguard people from terrorism. Experience of managing risk, threat, and vulnerability, as well as in safeguarding vulnerable individuals, is essential.
Responsibilities:
1. Identifying and working with key individual networks across the West Midlands Region to embed safeguarding in all CT activity, building relationships and supporting strategic partners with advice and guidance around police activity in Prevent and CT policing.
2. Supervisor oversight of Prevent Case Management (PCM), including triage/risk assessment of referrals.
3. Coordinating processes and practices to ensure the most effective recording and triaging of prevent referrals.
4. Directing and supervising officers managing the safeguarding of individuals of interest, considering those who have access to or influence over children or vulnerable adults.
5. Supervising individuals and institutions highlighted as requiring Prevent involvement by overseeing assessments of threat, risk, and vulnerability, identifying tactical options and interventions, and overseeing the management of each case.
6. Managing the team’s workload and prioritizing actions/resources.
7. Preparing comprehensive briefing papers, managing and coordinating the delivery of Prevent briefings to local policing staff, partners, and communities.
8. Gathering and disseminating information, including community tensions relating to CT issues, developing plans and managing and directing colleagues to action and address any issues.
9. Overseeing consequence management for designated areas to limit the impact executive action taken has on local communities, inclusive of community tensions, media coverage, stakeholders, and any longer-term issues which may arise.
10. Building upon community resilience by supervising, managing, and developing strong relationships with partner agencies, charities, third sector providers, and religious establishments to defeat terrorism and enhance trust and confidence.
