Job summary
Do you have a passion for Nutrition? Are you interested in working alongside registered dietitians to provide care and support as part of the oncology team at Harrogate Hospital? This is a fixed term /secondment project post (until 31/03/2026) to support the delivery of a high-quality specialist therapy service to patients under the care of the HDFT Specialist Haemato-Oncology and Palliative Care (HOP) therapy team. The post holder will work alongside the band 6 Specialist Oncology Dietitian, and specialist Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists within the multidisciplinary team.
The wider dietetic department offers excellent support for professional development and participates in the training of student dietitians on A, B and C placements and have recently been awarded Team of The Month at HDFT.
The post is based within the Sir Robert Ogden Macmillan Centre at Harrogate District Hospital, located in a thriving, attractive spa town, close to the Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors. The cities of Leeds and Bradford and historic York and Ripon are all within commuting distance. It is a high performing NHS Foundation Trust.
Main duties of the job
The Dietetic Associate Practitioner will support the Oncology Dietitian to provide nutritional support and interventions for patients under the care of the HOP team and under the supervision and direction of the dietitian. Optimising peoples nutritional intake using food based strategies and within protocol supporting oral nutritional supplements.

Qualifications
Essential
* Level 5 foundation degree in Health and Social Care or nutrition related subject, higher apprenticeship Care Certificate, Foundation certificate in Nutritional Health, or equivalent experience.
Experience
Essential
* Experience of team working and being part of a team deliver a wide range of high quality care.
* Experience in a clinical setting delivering high quality nutritional care.
* Experience of working in a health care setting.
Desirable
* Previous experience as a dietetic assistant.
Knowledge
Essential
* Knowledge of the scope of the associate practitioner role.
* Knowledge of practicing in a way to avoid risks, deliver safe care and know when to seek advice and refer to a registered care professional.
Desirable
* Knowledge of the dietetic process including assessment, care planning, implementation and evaluation.
