Assistant Financial Accountant
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Assistant Financial Accountant to support the finance team in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance, and contributing to financial control processes. This role is ideal for an ambitious finance professional looking to develop their skills in a dynamic and growing business.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Control & Compliance:
· Assist in implementing and maintaining financial controls to ensure data integrity.
· Support compliance with accounting standards (UK GAAP), tax regulations, and internal policies.
· Assist with KYC submissions and regulatory reporting.
· Support financial audits by providing necessary documentation and compliance reviews.
VAT & Tax Compliance:
· Manage VAT compliance and submissions across multiple jurisdictions, including UK VAT, EU VAT, and global VAT/GST frameworks.
· Ensure timely and accurate VAT return filings and compliance with submission deadlines.
· Handle complex VAT group structures, including intercompany transactions, VAT group registrations, and cross-border VAT issues.
· Ensure compliance with various VAT schemes (standard, reduced, exempt, and zero-rated supplies).
· Calculate VAT liabilities, credits, and adjustments, including partial exemption and bad debt relief.
Financial Reporting & Analysis:
· Conduct monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts and investigate discrepancies.
· Assist in preparing financial reports, including variance analysis and management reporting.
· Provide key reporting on Artfarm capital projects, tracking development and construction costs, pre-opening spend, and financial progress up to the launch of a new site.
· Support financial analysis for the monthly management information pack (MIP).
Budgeting, Forecasting & Cash Flow:
· Assist in the cashflow forecasting process, ensuring the accurate reporting of the annual CAPEX budget.
· Support the annual and quarterly budgeting and forecasting process, particularly for capital expenditure (CAPEX).
Accounts Payable & Process Improvement:
· Assist in reviewing and approving invoices, ensuring accurate recording in financial systems.
· Identify opportunities for process improvements within the finance function to increase efficiency.
Collaboration & Communication:
· Work closely with departments to ensure accurate and timely financial information flow.
· Liaise with external service providers, including auditors and tax advisors, under the guidance of senior finance leadership.
Qualifications & Experience
· AAT qualified or studying towards ACCA/CIMA.
· Previous experience in a finance/accounting role, preferably within hospitality or a multi-site business.
· Strong understanding of financial control, compliance, and accounting principles.
· In-depth knowledge of VAT regulations, compliance, and international tax considerations.
· Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Power BI, and Jet Reporting (Dynamics Business Central knowledge is a plus).
· Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
