Main duties of the job
Applications are invited for a Locum Consultant post in Cardiac Rhythm Management at University Hospital Southampton.
This is an excellent opportunity to join our team of 4 cardiologists with special interest in cardiac rhythm management. Southampton continues to excel in service and research in all aspects of cardiac rhythm management with an international reputation. This is a replacement post and is intended to maintain the unit's expansion in service to the region with an emphasis on advance device management and catheter ablation.
You should possess Membership of the Royal College of Physicians or equivalent post graduate qualification and have a CCT in cardiology or equivalent within six months of the interview.

Job responsibilities
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Cathlab work will be based at Southampton General Hospital. It encompasses electrophysiological studies and catheter ablation of simple and complex arrhythmias, implantation and revision of low and high voltage devices including cardiac resynchronization therapy. You will provide a supervisory role for troubleshooting in device follow up clinics. You will perform weekly outpatient clinics and share the non-invasive out-of-hours on-call rota (1:12 with current appointment). Cardiac Rhythm Management Cardiologists are currently paid at 12 PAs.

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, dynamic and highly-motivated colleague who is fully trained in all aspects of electrophysiology and devices. This individual should be able to

Essential
* MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
* GMC registration with a licence to practise
* MRCP or equivalent
Desirable
* Higher Degree: MD or PhD
* British Heart Rhythm Society/ European Heart Rhythm Association accreditation/ exam in EP or devices
Previous or relevant experience
Essential
* Appropriate knowledge base, and ability to apply sound clinical judgement to problems
* Proficiency in implantation and revision of cardiac implantable electrical devices (Brady/ tachy/ CRT)
Desirable
* Proficiency in ablation of atrial fibrillation and SVT
* Experience in ablation of complex atrial and ventricular arrhythmias
* Expertise in a field of interventional electrophysiology
