You’ll be supported every step of the way not only by your line manager and maintenance colleagues but your own dedicated mentor, who you will work closely with throughout your apprenticeship.
Working alongside our mechanical maintenance team, you’ll delving into the nitty gritty details of today’s technology, working with mechanical systems in order to maximise efficiency. You will play a key part in diagnosing and determining the cause of faults in mechanical plant and equipment. Your role will entail positioning, assembling, installing, and dismantling mechanical plant and equipment which will include pumps, valves, gearboxes, pipework. Whilst also carrying out planned, unplanned and preventative maintenance procedures on mechanical plants and equipment’s.
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
1. Relevant industry health and safety standards, regulations, and environmental and regulatory requirements.
2. Maintenance and operational practices, processes and procedures covering a range of plant and equipment.
3. How to diagnose and determine the cause of faults in mechanical plant and equipment.

5. You will be training at Make UK, Nobel Wy, Birmingham B EP training for weeks, then returning to your base location for two weeks throughout the first year. Second year you will attend Make UK to complete your BTEC however on a less frequent basis. Where you are not local to Birmingham, we will offer fully funded accommodation including Dinner, Bed and Breakfast and transport to and from the Make UK Training Centre.
ENTRY CRITERIA
This apprenticeship standard is at Level (equivalent to A-Level qualifications). If you don't already have GCSEs in English and Maths, you will need to take functional skills as part of the apprenticeship, which is an alternative to GCSEs and achieve a Level. You will need to achieve this prior to completion of your apprenticeship.
DRIVING REQUIREMENTS
These locations will require a Driving Licence & access to you own vehicle before completing your apprenticeship as driving is mandatory for the off-scheme role:
