Risk & Controls Specialist

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Risk and Control Specialist to join our team. A bit about the job:
The role sits at the heart of our business within the Internal Operations area of the Performance, Governance and Reporting (PGR) Team. Reporting to the Risk and Governance Manager within PGR, you will play a key role in delivering risk and assurance services across our important business standards. Working closely with senior leadership teams, first, second- and third-line risk partners, third-party supplier leads, Global functions, and a network of internal and external business partners, you will:
1. Proactively identify, assess, and document operational risks within the business unit.
2. Conduct regular risk assessments and ensure that all potential risks are identified and mitigated.
3. Complete regular control assessments to ensure all controls are in place and functioning as intended.
4. Develop, implement, and monitor mitigation and remediation strategies.
5. Manage issues and risk events, including development of plans and implementation of corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
6. Prepare and present regular risk reports to senior management.
7. Maintain comprehensive and up-to-date risk documentation.
8. Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements and internal policies.
9. Stay updated on changes in regulations and industry standard methodologies.
10. Work closely with other departments, including Compliance, Internal Audit, and IT, to ensure a cohesive approach to risk management.
Skills and experience we're looking for:
1. Knowledge and experience in risk and governance related roles or working with risk and control frameworks and risk management tools such as IBM Open Pages and Archer.
2. An understanding of any of the business standards in scope (Information Technology, Business Protection, Operational Resilience, Procurement and Outsourcing, and Health and Safety) and underlying controls framework.
3. Experience of operational risk management and control assessment.
4. Exceptional with data analysis and reporting, including analysing data to provide insight and recommendations and developing and producing reporting for senior management.
5. Proficient at Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, coupled with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
7. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

* Salary up to £50,000 (depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications)
