I am on the hunt for a passionate health and safety officer for my awesome client in the construction sector. This role comes with competitive salary, a generous benefits package and a company car.
This hybrid role requires flexibility and a willingness to travel to various project locations across the UK, as well as work from the head office in Staffordshire, or from home. The location of work will depend on where it can most effectively support the company’s Health and Safety culture and compliance. The vision for the role will be 3 days on site, London or the West Midlands, 1 day in the office and 1 day working from home.
Key responsibilities:
* Conducting audits on construction sites and equipment inspections.
* Supporting and promoting a positive safety culture across the business.
* Facilitating the training and development of staff to enhance awareness and understanding of QHSE standards and their role within the organization.
* Managing day-to-day Health and Safety activities on sites.
* Reviewing and improving Safe Systems of Work.
* Preparing and delivering safety inductions, briefings, and toolbox talks.
* Driving high standards of safety performance.
* Monitoring and auditing monthly KPIs.
* Closing out audit issues and implementing improvements and preventative measures.
* Handling site inductions and daily audits.
* Administrative tasks such as uploading paperwork, completing audits, and generating performance league tables.
* Educating the team on best practices and lessons learned.
* Ensuring timely completion of actions.
Required Skills/Qualifications:
Essential:
* NEBOSH Certification
* CSCS Card (Managers)
* First Aid Certification
Experience & Behavior's:
* Demonstrated Health & Safety expertise in construction.
* Strong decision-making skills with the ability to challenge the status quo when needed.
* Capable of working independently and mediating risk versus practicality.
* Experience with lifting equipment.
Skills & Attributes:
* Excellent communication and reporting skills.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
* Familiarity with internet systems and database programs.
* Commitment to personal development.
* Ability to collaborate effectively at all levels within the organization.
Desirables:
* High-level IOSH qualification.
* TWS/TWC certification.
* NVQ Level 5 Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety.
* SMSTS certification.
* Experience or interest in ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards.
* Ability to provide constructive feedback and actionable insights.
