Portsmouth Water is looking for a motivated and reliable Logistics Operative to join their dynamic team In this role, the successful candidate will take on a range of responsibilities, including accepting deliveries, distributing stock to staff and contractors, handling chemical and material deliveries to pumping stations, and managing site waste disposal. Additionally, the position involves operating a forklift, logging goods in and out both physically and within the ERP system, performing regular stock checks and replenishment, and overseeing hazardous gas and chemical deliveries. The candidate will also play a key role in maintaining a safe, clean, and organized stores environment while ensuring smooth logistics operations. Key Responsibilities Delivering excellent customer service when dealing with internal and external customers Encourage proactive and effective communications to help develop and maintain professional relationships with internal and external customers Promoting and demonstrating continuous improvements to procedures/processes/working practices to enhance the level of customer service delivery Ensure that all tasks are undertaken in an appropriate manner in line with the relevant policies and procedures/RAMS Adhere to all legislation involved in the storage and transportation of hazardous substances Ensure you meet with agreed Department KPI's and SLA's Ensure full compliance to all legislation involved in the storage and transportation of hazardous and other substances Working to, and assurance of, compliance with DWI regulation 31 for storage and handling of materials in contact with the water supply. Compliance with manual/assisted handling, lifting and storage regulations. To comply with all policies and procedures relating to Health and Safety To ensure the relevant checks are made to all plant and machinery and handling equipment To report any accidents or near misses in line with Portsmouth Water policies Proactive identification of improvements to procedures or practices to minimise risks. Work with other team members to ensure all tasks are completed. Ad-hoc Out of Hours call out cover when required. What do you need? Skills, Qualifications & Competencies Computer proficiency Literacy and numeracy competent Good organisational skills and able to switch from task to task Ability to meet the physical demands of the job including fitness for 'confined spaces'. Excellent time management and time keeping Flexible, proactive, and willing to take on a variety of tasks Effective communicator Team player Full clean UK driving licence Knowledge of water industry pipes, materials and tools including DWI regulation 31 compliance is desirable. Counterbalance forklift licence, trailer licence, ADR trained, confined space trained would be desirable EUSR National Water Hygiene Card, Track mounted crane (HIAB) operation desirable. >12 months experience in a stores/warehouse/logistic role would be desirable.
