Our opportunity
Thales Integrated Airspace-protection Systems (IAS) who provide Air Defence Systems (ADS) and Surface attack Systems ((SAS) for UK and Export Customers have fantastic opportunities for a Bid and Project Manager to join the team.
You will be responsible for coordinating the resources across all functions in order to optimise the contribution from other Thales internal sites (i.e. those other than IAS UK required to deliver the solution) to produce competitive campaigns, bids and products, and delivering profitable projects.- You will represent IAS UK in discussions for the supply of products and services provided by other internal Thales sites, in support of potential sales and bids opportunities.
You will work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure an Acquisition strategy for a campaign, bid, or product or project are aligned to the needs of the business in the short, medium and long term durations and work closely with the bid and product development teams to ascertain the work package needs, competitiveness objectives and target costs. Develop a supply chain architecture; clarify and confirm with the internal supply sites, under these mandates, to obtain a complete and competitive supply chain architecture (including sub-tier supply), which delivers the full requirement of the bid/product.
Some of the key responsibilities:-
12. Be seen as the architect for intra-group suppliers for the assigned campaign, bid or project
13. As a result, create, agree, maintain all governance requirements and Acquisition Strategy and Plan with the bid/project team
14. Work with multiple stakeholders to design the intra-group supply architecture to meet needs of the bid or product
15. Assuring coherence of the prime and intragroup subcontract programme, technical, commercial and financial aspects, to align where necessary and/or inform of any variances material to bid risk management, decision making and contract acceptance
16. Generate/ review RFQs to the for intra-group suppliers, ensuring bid and program requirements are accurately captured
17. Lead the activities in the intra-group supply chain to identify supply market innovation opportunities, involving suppliers in design upstream and optimizing risk-sharing
18. Identify and mitigate risks and maximize opportunities in the role of intra-group supply chain Risk Manager for the bid.
About you
You will have proven experience in a Bid and Project Management, together with experience of procurement and a track record of successful delivery in a similar role ideally within defence or similar business together with the following:-
19. Supply chain architecture development and implementation
20. Commercially astute with advanced commercial skills and experience including differing contracting models
21. Broad range of skills focused on: Needs Analysis, Design to Cost, Make-Team-Buy, Technical Interface Management, Acquisition Strategy definition, Supplier Management (intra-group if possible), Risk and Opportunity Management, Subcontract Management, Relationship Management
22. Leadership, presentation and communication skills
23. Exceptional Interpersonal skills to optimize cross-functional & cross-organisational working, engage key stakeholders and to work effectively with intra-group suppliers.
24. Negotiation skills in a complex systems’ environment
25. Able to analyse complex and sometimes incomplete information to create an easy to communicate short-medium and long term solution, addressing Thales requirements.
