The Team
Cundall is an engineering and design partnership leading the way in the provision of creative, sustainable design solutions for the built environment. We are looking for an inspiring and forward-thinking Commercial Director to lead our commercial strategy and commercial team.
We are an organization committed to living and breathing our values of integrity, collaboration, excellence, and creativity. The current commercial team is expanding as the benefits of having this function are being felt around the business. We are therefore looking to embed more commercial activities across the business to better support project teams, leadership, and management groups, and help facilitate better commercial outcomes. There has never been a more exciting time to join the practice as we continue to develop our new global strategy.
The Role
Working closely with the global Management Board and Global Finance Director, the Commercial Director will set and drive the commercial strategy for the business in line with wider business objectives. The post holder will work closely with business leaders across the practice to understand their project challenges and build and develop our commercial team to provide best-in-class solutions. As a member of the leadership team, the post holder will constructively challenge senior peers to drive exemplar project management behaviors and a high-performance culture within their respective project teams.
Examples of business priorities for the Commercial Director include the development of a robust commercial strategy that can be applied consistently across all parts of the business and embedding commercial activities around the business, both in the UK and wider business, to better support project teams and facilitate improved commercial outcomes on projects and for the practice.
The Skills
You will want to join our team if you are an experienced commercial leader with a proven track record of driving commercial strategy within complex multi-site organizations, ideally internationally. You will also possess experience in an engineering consultancy and managing the commercial aspects of projects in the built environment.
Demonstrable understanding of issues of commercial and contractual risk, and a proven ability to optimize risks is central to the success of this role, alongside the ability to build and maintain relationships with both internal technical teams and external clients, suppliers, and outside consultants.
Why Join Cundall?

Creating environments where everyone can find joy doing their best work is also great for everyone. That’s why we positively welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and identities and encourage, support, and celebrate the diverse voices of our people.
