To provide a comprehensive, high-quality medical secretarial and administrative service to the consultant(s), their medical team, specialist nursing teams, and other health professionals. To co-ordinate and maintain arrangements to facilitate the patients' progression along a defined pathway. To maintain the office organisation and monitor the workload related to the administration team.
Candidates must demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, both verbal and written, and an understanding of maintaining confidentiality. The post holder will need to be competent in audio typing, meet deadlines, with the ability to exercise initiative and prioritise workload in response to changing demands. The successful candidate will be computer literate and be efficient in using the Microsoft Office packages and hospital-based WPAS.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will work alongside a well-established group of medical secretaries who support the Neonatal team in Singleton Hospital.
The post-holder will be required to:
* Provide an efficient secretarial service to several Consultants
* Maintain direct and close working relationships with the Consultant(s) and their medical team as well as other staff within the department.

Qualifications
* Five GCSEs C or above or equivalent work experience
* Workplace-based training certificates. Typing at RSA 3 or equivalent.
Knowledge
* Knowledge or experience of medical terminology

* Previous work as a secretary
* Dealing with the general public in person and by phone
