Job summary This is an exciting opportunity to join the newly built Emergency Department (ED) within the Huddersfield Royal Infirmary. As a Registered Nurse (RN) working within the Emergency Department, you will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality, patient-centred care to individuals requiring attention for acute conditions, working in all areas of the department including Majors, Resuscitation, Minor Injuries and Illness and Initial Assessment. The Emergency Department is a fast-paced working environment, where you will collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team of professionals to assess, diagnose, treat, and manage patients. The successful candidates should be able to demonstrate critical thinking, and effective communication whilst also adhering to established protocols and standards of care. Main duties of the job To participate in the assessing, planning, implementation and evaluation of individualised care for medical patients. To assist the MDT with providing clear and concise instructions to patients regarding treatment plans, medications, follow-up care, and self-management strategies, promoting patient empowerment and adherence to healthcare recommendations. To work collaboratively with all members of the MDT to develop and implement comprehensive care plans tailored to individual patient needs, ensuring continuity of care and effective communication across interdisciplinary teams. To recognise changes in patients conditions which require the intervention of others and refer on / escalate as appropriate. To clearly present the patients point of view to others, including promoting and protecting the interest and dignity of patients. Maintain accurate and thorough electronic patient records of patient assessments, interventions, responses to treatment, and discharge instructions. Ensure own practice is evidenced based and contribute to the development of nursing practice in own area.
