The Opportunity
Go-Ahead Group is committed to providing exceptional public transport services across the UK and in international markets. We are currently seeking an Assistant Manager to join our dynamic and diverse Business Development (BD) team. The role will involve supporting a variety of programmes and projects, including tender management, mergers and acquisitions, business integration, and stakeholder engagement. You will be a key player in our efforts to identify valuable new opportunities and support the ongoing success of Go-Ahead's operations.
Principal Accountabilities:
* Provide reliable project management support for a range of ongoing programmes, ensuring the preparation of high-quality materials.
* Conduct market research and assessments to support BD strategy and decision-making.
* Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
* Analyse and present data to inform strategy and business decisions.
* Directly and indirectly participate in tenders, including content formulation.
* Offer junior-level advice and support on rail strategy and operations.
* Support the BD team in managing a varied workload that may include tenders, acquisitions, mobilisation, and operational integration.
Knowledge & Experience:
* A minimum of 2 years' experience in the rail sector, either in operational or corporate roles, with a broad understanding of UK rail public policy and industry workings.
* Proven track record in managing projects to timelines, with a solid understanding of the principles and processes needed for success.
* Educated to undergraduate degree level (or equivalent), preferably in business, project management, law, or politics, though we value aptitude and relevant experience.
* Strong written communication skills to justify, evidence, and persuade stakeholders.
* Confidence in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
* Ability to build trust and develop positive relationships internally and externally.
* Strong presentation skills, with experience in presenting ideas, research, and evidence to support decision-making.
* A keen interest in personal development and a collaborative team-oriented attitude.
