If you're a Welsh speaker who loves working with young learners, we'd love to hear from you We are currently looking for a dedicated, compassionate Welsh-speaking Teaching Assistant to work 1:1 with a student in a Special Educational Needs (SEN) base at one of our primary schools in Merthyr Tydfil. This full-time position (Monday to Friday, 8:20 AM - 3:30 PM) is due to start January 2025. Job Responsibilities: Provide 1:1 support to a student with additional learning needs, offering personalised educational assistance. Create a nurturing and inclusive environment that promotes both academic and social development. Work closely with teachers and fellow support staff to develop and implement strategies to enhance student progress. Keep detailed records of student achievements and contribute to reports and assessments. Communicate regularly with parents/guardians, providing updates and addressing any concerns. Collaborate with external professionals (e.g., educational psychologists, speech and language therapists) to meet the student’s individual needs. The Ideal Candidate: Fluent in Welsh, with strong communication skills in both Welsh and English. Experience supporting children with additional learning needs in an educational setting. Skilled at building positive, supportive relationships with students on a 1:1 basis. Knowledgeable about different learning challenges and experienced in using a variety of strategies to support student progress. Able to build strong working relationships with students, teachers, and parents/guardians. Patient, empathetic, and calm under pressure. Well-organised with excellent time management and prioritisation skills.
