Are you able to spare a few hours a week to help support our individual’s access local activities and appointments?
We are looking for volunteer drivers to help us, ideally on a regular basis, to drive our mobility vehicles from one of our services in Rochester, Kent.
This service is essential for the people we support to attend social activities, sport clubs, arts and crafts, visiting shops, restaurants etc. and even any appointments and so you will have an opportunity to be a part of a person-centred organisation that is both rewarding and enjoyable.
Hours of support required:
Monday - 10am to 2pm
Tuesday - 10am to 2pm
Thursday - 10am to 2pm
Friday - 10 am to 4pm
Saturday – 10am to 12.30pm
However we can be flexible to suit any volunteer’s availability!

Avenues Group are a non for profit social care organisation which supports young adults and adults with learning disabilities through a mixture of 1:1 support at home and in the community, to enable them to live as independently as possible.

What skills and expertise will you need?
* Hold a full clean UK driving licence – will be checked on commencement of volunteering as well as annually
* Willing to drive a service vehicle (e.g. adapted vehicle, larger vehicle/van etc.)
* Able to communicate with a variety of people
* Be reliable, punctual and able to manage own time
* Be willing to undertake any mandatory training
* Highly desirable to have own vehicle and business insurance
* Local to the areas of one or more of the following: Rochester, Chatham, Gillingham, Rainham, Strood, Maidstone and Gravesend (and surrounding areas).
Due to the range of people you may encounter, you are required to complete a mandatory DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check as well as reference checks. We operate both enhanced Adult and Children checks for this role in line with our compliance.
